Noël à Avignon, c’est une histoire de Labyrinthe et de Triumgirafe, avec des propositions ludiques des associations et des commerçants, ou encore de nombreux marchés de créateurs et d’initiatives tous styles pour fêter l’Avent en donnant bien entendu la priorité aux enfants. Noël c’est aussi le rêve, la poésie, la découverte, l’imaginaire… avec de nombreux spectacles, parades et concerts qui animeront la ville les week-ends, transformant ainsi Avignon en scène de spectacles.
Folklore et traditions ne seront pas oubliés avec l’installation de la crèche au cœur de l’Eglise des Célestins, qui accueillera le village des santonniers : c’est ici, au cœur de cet élément majeur de notre patrimoine, que seront proposées animations, danses folkloriques, saynètes autour des traditions provençales. Le Palais du Roure, berceau de la culture provençale, dévoilera et commentera à nouveau aux visiteurs la crèche provençale et son petit peuple de santons et la traditionnelle table calendale du gros souper de Noël, dressée dans la salle à manger du musée récemment restauré.

The Christmas Season in Avignon
Events and calendar to be confirmed
Christmas in Avignon… it’s the story of a maze, the story of lots of fun events proposed by shopkeepers and associations, tales and markets featuring creators’ work. Initiatives of all kinds to celebrate Advent and make way for children, the priority.
Christmas also means dreams, poetry, discovery, imagination… There are several performances, parades and concerts scheduled for the weekends, transforming the city into an ongoing sparkling stage.
Folklore and traditions are also part of the Christmas celebrations. At the Church of the Célestins, the Christmas crèche will be on display. There too, for the first time, the santon-makers village will go up, where makers of traditional and contemporary santons will show their art – an important part of local heritage. Here too traditional dancing, sketches and events showcasing Provençal traditions.
At the Palais du Roure, the cradle of Provençal culture, a beautiful Provençal crèche is also on display. Local historians welcome visitors and explain the crèche, answering any questions. The traditional Christmas table, with all its symbols and the time-honoured gros souper de Noël, is set up in the dining room of the museum, newly restored.
