From Soll Lewitt to Jean-Michel Basquiat
The first close-up was organised around Soll Lewitt, for the Collection has a magnificent ensemble of 38 works. This first focus has been completed, now with a second focus devoted to Jean-Michel Basquiat.
Just at the time that the Fondation Vuitton is celebrating Basquiat in Paris in a great monographic exhibition, the Collection Lambert takes a close look at the special relationship that was woven between Yvon Lambert and Jean-Michel Basquiat, who met in New York in 1982. Basquiat held his last French exhibition in Yvon Lambert's gallery in 1987 just one year before his untimely death. Monumental paintings, drawings, objects and artist's book take over two room in the Caumont Mansion through to summer 2019.
Until the 28th of May

Francesco Vezzoli, works that look at us.
This exhibition has been designed as a unique project in which Francesco Vezzoli constructs a dialogue between his own work and the iconic works in the Collection Lambert.
Contrasting ancient or classical sculptures made by Francesco Vezzoli to a selection of works by the great artists in the 1960's, '70's, '80's, close to conceptual and minimal art, and who share a inextinguishable love for ancient history and classical art, such as Cy Twombly, Giulio Paolini and Louise Lawler is the idea of the artist.
The artist thus brings to bear, on Yvon Lambert's collection, a unique gaze. His gaze enjoins the public to bring an open mind and a new, sensitive look to the works displayed in Avignon.
From the 2nd of March until the 2nd of June
