Pour la troisième année consécutive, le spectacle de projection monumentale Les Luminessences d’Avignon investit le Palais des Papes tous les soirs et innove en 2015 avec trois séances en anglais par semaine les lundis, mercredis et vendredis à 22h15.
Du 12 août au 3 octobre, chaque soir, le Palais raconte son histoire en illuminant à 360° les façades de la cour d’honneur. Plus de 130 000 spectateurs ont déjà vécu ce voyage dans le temps, féérique, intense et émouvant. À la pointe des technologies de l’image et du son, Les Luminessences d’Avignon plongent le spectateur dans un tourbillon visuel et narratif ininterrompu, d’un rythme à couper le souffle.
Les images monumentales habillent intégralement les quatre façades de la cour, et enveloppent le public dans une fusion poétique d’architecture, de lumière et de musique. Un spectacle à voir en famille ou entre amis, le rendez-vous idéal pour venir admirer le Palais des Papes la nuit et y partager une échappée onirique à travers les siècles.

For the third year in a row this monumental show screened on the walls of the Palace of the Popes is presented every evening. New this year, the Luminessences d’Avignon has three screenings a week in English – on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 10:15 pm.
From 12 August to 3 October, the Palace of the Popes comes to life, illuminating 360° all along the elevations in the Honour Courtyard. The Palace has told its story to over 130,000 viewers and continues to thrill audiences as it takes them on a trip back in time. A magic, intense and moving experience.
Les Luminessences d’Avignon uses the very latest in image and sound technologies, embarking viewers on a seamless visual and narrative whirlwind. Monumental images cloak all four walls of the medieval courtyard and envelop the audience in a poetic fusion of architecture, light and music. A show for the whole family and ideal with friends – a great way to admire the Palace of the Popes by night and take off on a dreamlike journey through the centuries.

The Festival d’Avignon - 69th edition | 4 to 25 July
The “Festival d’Avignon” is one of the oldest and most famous theatre festivals in the world. The Avignon Theatre Festival presents contemporary European creations during three weeks in July.
This 69th edition is, for the very first time, in the hands of Olivier Py. The Festival is a crossroads for exploring artists from many different backgrounds, aesthetics, origins and generations. It is both a source of avant garde discoveries and reference works, offering approximately fifty different shows, conferences and exhibitions in twenty venues ranging from small chapels to the legendary Honour Courtyard in the Palace of the Popes, or the brand new FabricA.

Avignon’s Festival off - 50th edition

This year the festival Off celebrates its 50th edition with exhibits, meetings and discussions, and 1336 different shows put on by over 1000 companies including 27 from outside of France. These theatre troupes turn Avignon into one big stage every kind of performance art: theatre, readings, café-theatre, circus, dance, music, street theatre… classic, modern and contemporary authors, for all ages, all audiences. This year the Off incorporates eco-responsible measures which also entail a eco-festival, and “ecological” parade and several conferences on the environment. Another new facet is the “Off les murs (Off the walls) to develop a citizen project for education and access to the festival for people living in all neighbourhoods in Avignon. The grand opening parade is on 4 July, the great closing dance is on 25 January.

FESTIVAL OFF D'AVIGNON - 50e édition | 4 au 26 juillet
Cette année le festival Off fêtera sa 50e édition avec des expositions, rencontres et débats et 1336 spectacles proposés par plus de 1000 compagnies dont 27 de pays étrangers. A wonderful celebration marking the beginning of the grape harvest in the Côtes du Rhône. Abundant rejoicing during this festive and free celebration which is open to all. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Harvest Proclamation events and as such will fill the weekend in Avignon. Saturday, the proclamation that opens the harvest takes place, followed by a gourmand market and the Great Harvest Dance until midnight. On Sunday, come picnic at the Rocher des Doms. Samedi, la proclamation du Ban des Vendanges suivi du marché des gourmands et, jusqu'à minuit, le Grand Bal des Vendanges. Dimanche, chacun a rendez-vous pour piqueniquer sur le rocher des Doms avec musique, expositions artistiques, mise en valeur des vins et des mets...

The Collection Lambert holds exceptional works acquired by gallerist and collector Yvon Lambert throughout his entire life. The Collection’s venue has undergone major work for the past two years and is re-opening on 4 July 2015. Exhibition space has doubled and the collection now fills two adjoining former city mansions, the Hôtel de Caumont and the Hôtel de Montfaucon. Two major exhibits mark this opening, with a presentation of the Collection’s masterpieces – some of which have not been displayed since the inaugural exhibit of the Collection in 2000 – and a temporary exhibit, a tribute to Patrice Chéreau, which creates a first collaboration with the Festival d’Avignon. www.collectionlambert.com

The Palace of the Popes invites you to a visual journey through the essential phases of the restoration of the Palais des Papes, conducted by Henri Nodet father and son, chief architects for the French Monuments historiques in the first half of the 20th century. An impressive collection of black-and-white photographs has been displayed along the entire tour path showing views of the palace before, during and after the restoration.
